A fun video about the Dogecoin cryptocurrency — a coin that grew out of a meme and is still alive and making people smile.

The name Dogecoin comes from the Doge meme — a photo of a Japanese Shiba Inu named Kabosu.

A meme that became a coin

Dogecoin was created at the end of 2013 as a joke about the cryptocurrency craze, with a popular meme as its symbol. But the joke unexpectedly caught on: the coin gained a large and very friendly community.

A beautiful dog and a great meme :-)

To the Moon!

“To the Moon!” is the community’s main slogan: Doge is flying to the Moon.

The most interesting thing is that Dogecoin is still in use and costs very little — only about 50 satoshi. But look at that stability :-)

A shop sign that never went up

Back in 2014 I wanted to hang a sign like this in a shop — “You can pay with DogeCoin here” — to bring Dogecoin to the masses. Unfortunately, the shop owner didn’t go for the idea.

A gorgeous 10 Doge coin — possibly a very exclusive souvenir or a prototype:

P.S. Kabosu is such a sweet dog — no wonder so many people love Dogecoin.
