MMM Commercials with Lyonya Golubkov — All the Ads

I came across the old MMM commercials — I still remembered some of them, so it was fun to rewatch those mesmerizing ad stories :-). Lyonya Golubkov’s brother, his wife, relatives from the village and “just Maria” — all the familiar faces are there.

Watching them now, advertising back then seems so primitive (no offense). “I’m not a freeloader, I’m a partner!” and “I’ll buy my wife some boots” became catchphrases, and the story itself ended the way every financial pyramid ends.

Update

Time goes by and technology keeps moving. High-speed internet is nothing special anymore, little kids use computers easily and without surprise, and back then it was a technological miracle for us.

Advertising has changed too — it’s more complex and more effective. People won’t hand over their money that easily now, so advertisers act more cleverly.

But it was the advertising of its time, when everything was simple and clear — and still a novelty.
