Jagged Alliance: Back in Action — Tips and the Crashed Helicopter with Diamonds
Giving in to nostalgia, I bought (on sale) a licensed copy of Jagged Alliance: Back in Action.
I remember Jagged Alliance 2 being a really absorbing game — it took your breath away, and you could sit at it for dozens of hours, breaking only for a quick snack :-). As a fan of Jagged Alliance 2, I couldn’t skip Back in Action.
Those days are gone: games have become much prettier and more demanding on hardware, but they seem to have lost their spark — beautiful, yet somehow empty. Or maybe it’s just us old-school fans who have become too picky?
I’ve finished Jagged Alliance: Back in Action completely, so here are a few things that make the playthrough easier and let you enjoy the game instead of constantly hitting Save/Load.
What to keep in mind
- Read the quests carefully.
- Take them wherever you can: quests give you money and some weapons.
- Use the map of Arulco — it marks every location and every character who gives quests or needs to be found (the map is below).
- Don’t skimp on good weapons and armor.
- Be sure to find the G11 rifle and use it — fights get noticeably easier.
- Use grenades more often.
Where to find the crashed helicopter with the diamonds
This is the “Sky Full of Diamonds” quest (name translated from the Russian version). The helicopter lies at the cannibals’ farm to the left of Cambria on the map; look for it below the buildings. It looks like this:

The map was made in Flash (by a German fan), and it no longer opens in modern browsers. So here it is as an image:
I’m keeping the original archive too: download the Arulco map (Flash).
