SolidWorks Install Error: Windows Installer “RollbackUnReg” — Fix
When installing SolidWorks you may run into the error “Windows Installer for this product component did not work as expected: RollbackUnReg”.
The installation aborts and rolls back.
Restarting the installation ends with the same error.
What fixed it
Uninstall all Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages (2008, 2012 and the rest) the standard way: Start → Control Panel → Programs → Uninstall a program. Then start the SolidWorks installation again.
SolidWorks installs the Visual C++ versions it needs by itself, and the installation should complete successfully.
Note: other programs may also use those Visual C++ packages. If something stops working after SolidWorks is installed, reinstall the latest Visual C++ Redistributable from Microsoft.
P.S. Running the installer as administrator didn’t help, and neither did registry cleaners or various “doctor” utilities.
