A server is a delicate thing: it usually uses special memory (FB-DIMM) with error correction (ECC).

For correct and optimal operation of a system based on the Supermicro X7DB3 motherboard, the memory must be installed according to the manual.

The X7DB3 supports up to 32 GB of fully buffered (FBD) ECC DDR2 533/667 memory in 8 DIMM slots. Depending on the number and size of your memory modules, find your case in the table and install the modules accordingly.

For better performance, use pairs of modules of the same type and size (preferably from the same batch).

Note 1: because of operating system limitations, some operating systems may not show more than 4 GB of memory. That is understandable for 32-bit systems.
