jusched.exe — What This Process Is and How to Turn Off Java Updates
Continuing to optimize the system — I rarely need Java — let’s look at the jusched.exe process.

jusched.exe (Java Update Scheduler) is a program that periodically checks Sun’s servers for a new version of Java.
Do you need jusched.exe?
It loads when Windows starts, runs without a visible window and uses a little memory. If you rarely need Java, you can turn off automatic updates and update Java manually.
How to disable jusched.exe
- Click Start → Control Panel.
- Double-click the Java icon.
- Go to the Update tab.
- Uncheck Check for Updates Automatically.
- In the prompt that appears, choose Never Check.
After that, jusched.exe will no longer start. Readers report that after disabling it and cleaning up startup, their computer ran faster.
Is it a virus?
The genuine jusched.exe lives in one of the Program Files subfolders (in the Java folder). If a file with this name is somewhere else, such as the Windows folder or a temporary folder, it may be a trojan disguised as Java. Scan it with an antivirus.
