“The Database Sort Order Differs from the System One” in 1C 7.7 — the Fix

Back in 2008 I wrote a post about 1C 7.7 and Vista — a database sort order mismatch (in Russian). Recently I ran into it again while running 1C on a Windows Server 2008 terminal server:

1C 7.7 error: the database sort order differs from the system one

Eight years have passed and the post is still relevant, so here’s the fix in brief.

When the error appears

At startup, 1C:Enterprise 7.7 compares the sort order the database was created with to the system’s. In Windows Vista, 7, Server 2008 and later the sort order differs from the one 1C 7.7 expects, and the program says “The sort order set for the database differs from the system one” (translated from the Russian message) or reports an unrecoverable database error.

The fix: an empty OrdNoChk.prm file

A file with this name turns the check off.

  1. Find the folder containing 1cv7.exe: right-click the 1C 7.7 shortcut → Properties → Open File Location.
  2. Put an empty file named OrdNoChk.prm in that folder — create it yourself (e.g. in Notepad, saving it with that name and without a .txt extension) or download a ready one: OrdNoChk.prm.
  3. Start 1C again.

That’s it. If 1C runs on a terminal server, you only need to put the file once — in the 1cv7.exe folder on the server.
