Life Is Fast, Like Petrov’s Yellow Car

Russian rapper Karandash has a line: “Life is fast, like Petrov’s yellow car”

(Karandash feat. Lenin — “Intro (Live Fast, Die Young)”)

So who is Petrov, and what’s the yellow car?

• Vitaly Alexandrovich Petrov is a Russian racing driver, born on September 8, 1984, in Vyborg.
• He’s known by the nickname “Vyborg Rocket”.
• Since 2010 he has raced in Formula One for Renault (the team’s base is in Enstone, England).
• He’s the first Russian driver in Formula One history.
• In March 2011 he finished third at the Australian Grand Prix — the first podium for a Russian driver in Formula One.

That yellow car

In 2010 the Renault cars were yellow and black — hence “Petrov’s yellow car”
