StarCraft II Secret Mission Piercing the Shroud: How to Unlock It
Not everyone knows that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty has a secret mission — “Piercing the Shroud”. It isn’t in the mission list, and you can only unlock it during one of the regular missions.
Below is how to unlock it and what it’s about.
How to unlock “Piercing the Shroud”
- Play the “Media Blitz” mission.
- Fight your way to the bottom-right corner of the map — there’s a neutral laboratory complex (a red building).
- Destroy it — secret documents appear; pick them up.
- Finish the mission as usual.
After that, a new mission — “Piercing the Shroud” — appears on the Hyperion’s star map. If you’ve already completed Media Blitz without destroying the lab, you’ll have to replay it.
What the mission is about
In a secret research complex, Arcturus Mengsk’s scientists are crossing protoss and zerg DNA. Raynor decides to destroy the complex by blowing up its reactor, but the explosion shuts down the dome holding a super-hybrid — and it wakes up. Then you have to get your squad out in time.
The mission is short but atmospheric and reveals an important plot detail. It’s worth replaying Media Blitz for it.
