Maria Domark: The Israeli Model Who Served in the IDF (Photos)

In Israel, both young men and young women serve in the army — for most citizens it is a compulsory step after school. One of these soldiers was Maria (Miri) Domark, a girl whose photos in uniform and with a rifle once went viral all over the internet.

Who is Maria Domark?

Maria Domark is an Israeli model. Like other young women in Israel, she served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Her photos in uniform — with a rifle, on base, with fellow soldiers — spread across social media, and her Instagram gained a huge number of followers :-). Later she was featured by Maxim and many international outlets, and after her service Maria continued her modeling career.

Women in the Israeli army

Israel is one of the few countries where military service is compulsory for women too. Most of them serve for about two years, and not only in offices: women serve as instructors, in intelligence, in border units and even in combat units. So photos of girls in uniform with a rifle are an everyday sight in Israel, while for the rest of the world they became truly viral content.

A lovely girl and great photos — good luck to you, Maria, and keep making the world brighter!
